Stars Challenge & Ontario Relay Championship

The Mansfield map (courtesy of TOC) was updated in the summer of 2006. A small area was added to the map this year by Stars.

The terrain is typical of glacial moraines: hilly in places, with intricate contours, spurs, valleys and a big network of trails.

SATURDAY	A normal distance point-to-point orienteering event, starting at noon. (This event is also considered the Stars Championships). Open to everyone. 2 or 3 soccer games for each team (teams of 3-4, 10 minutes per game), starting at 4.30 pm. Score-O night event (maximum 60 minutes) starting at dusk (approximately 8.30 pm). Individual or teams of 2-3. Course lengths: Long 6.5/7 km; middle 4.5/5 km; short 2km
SUNDAY	The event format will be a relay (with 3 individual courses, a long, a short and a medium). Each team member will run only one of the 3 courses. Club teams are preferred. Races are open to everyone, but to be eligible to place in the Ontario Relay Championships, team members must be resident in Ontario and members in good standing of a club affiliated with the Canadian Orienteering Federation. Course lengths: Long 6 km; middle 4.2 km; short 2.2km

Please note that the start time on Sunday is 10.15 am. Registration closes at 10.00 am with instructions at 10.05 am.

Race Details

The SPORTident system will be used for Saturday's individual and Sunday's relay events. For those who have not purchased one, SPORTident e-cards will be available for sale ($40) or rent ($3/event).

Format Point to point; individual starts. For the relay there will be only one class. Minimum 5 points (Thomass points awarded).

Introduction / Clinic Depending on demand, an introductory clinic may be held on the Saturday. Please e-mail the event contact (above) if interested.

Cost

Adults were born 1988 or before;
Youth were born after 1988.
Full time students pay the same as youth.
Family is immediate family (parents & children).

Early Bird (paid before August 29)	Adult: $35 for all 3 events, or $15/event. Youth: $24 for all 3 events, or $10/event. Family: $85 maximum.
Normal price (August 29 -- September 4)	Adult: $44 for all 3 events, or $18/event. Youth: $33 for all 3 events, or $13/event. Family: $100 maximum.

Maps might be available for registration on Saturday, depending on map availability. Cost will be $20/event, or $15 for juniors. Maps may also be available on Sunday (any of the relay courses) for individuals without a team, ONLY after 12.01pm. Cost $18.00.

Rental SI cards will be available for an additional $3 per event.

ENTRY FEE COVERS EVENT FEE & ON-LINE REGISTRATION - but not the $5 park fee (but see below if you're camping).

Accommodation

We will reserve a group camping spot. Cost is approximately $13/person, to be paid at registration. This includes the park fee. For individuals not camping, a $5/person park fee will be charged on the day of the event.
